Alice Holland, director of student health and wellness at Swarthmore College and nationally certified sexuality educator, is available to comment on Valentine's Day dating advice, offering her five tips for intelligent flirting. Holland's five tips: 1) Try a quasi-dangerous date, such as skydiving. “These activities activate stress hormones in the body,” says Holland.

2) Develop conversational muscles. “Just like working out your biceps at the gym, you need to develop conversation skills,” she says. 3) Create an approachable you. “Have a relaxed posture, make eye contact, and smile." 4) Put out a positive vibe and relax.

5) Be yourself because everyone else is already taken. Working in higher education, Holland also offers dating tips for college students. Holland's advice: “This is the time to learn about what type of relationship works for you. Remember to be yourself and communicate effectively and clearly.” If you would like to talk with Holland, please contact Mark Anskis in the Swarthmore College Communications Office ([email protected] / 610-328-8271)
