Newswise — Chicago, IL (March 29, 2016): Edward Li, PharmD MPH BCOP, took office as an At Large Member of the Board of Directors at the recent 12th Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) Annual Conference in March. Dr. Li has been an active member of HOPA since 2009, and most recently served as Vice-Chair of the Health Policy Committee. In his role, he has developed key policy statements for biosimilars and counterfeit drugs on behalf of the organization. Dr. Li has also served on both the BCOP Recertification and Programming Committees. In addition, Dr. Li has been a frequent speaker at the HOPA Annual Conference sharing his expertise on describing and evaluating cancer practice trends, economics, and outcomes.

Currently, Dr. Li holds a Tenure position as Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the University of New England College of Pharmacy in Portland, ME. He also maintains a practice affiliation with the New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) in Scarborough, ME and works with New Century Health. Dr. Li has prior experience at the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and at Wilkes University. His research focuses on cancer pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoeconomics, and evaluating health policy issues as they relate to oncology practice.

Dr. Li earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in 1996. He completed his Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics and his Oncology Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy/Greenebaum Cancer Center. In 2014, Dr. Li received a Master of Public Health and University of New England. He has been Board Certified since 2005.

HOPA

HOPA is a nonprofit professional organization formed in 2004 to help oncology and hematology pharmacy practitioners and their associates provide the best possible cancer care. HOPA supports research, conducts educational conferences to advance knowledge, encourages professional development and advocates for health policy issues that improve patient care. HOPA has more than 2,500 members and includes oncology pharmacists, as well as pharmacy administrators, researchers, residents, interns and technicians specializing in hematology/oncology practice.
