Newswise — Judith Peraino is a musicologist at Cornell University where she studies queer music theory as well as medieval music. She believes that the ‘misogynistic machismo’ in some of the Rolling Stones’ songs fits Trump’s tone and language.

Peraino says:

“The Rolling Stones may be horrified that Donald Trump’s campaign has been warming-up the rallies with their songs, but they should not be surprised.

“Many Stones’ songs (Under My Thumb, Some Girls, Brown Sugar) express a swaggering misogynistic machismo that seems the musical equivalent to Trump’s chest-thumping speeches.

“However, while Mick Jagger’s over-the-top performances spin these songs as parodies, Trumps theatrical masculinity has now become the reality for the Republican Party.”

Cornell University has television, ISDN and dedicated Skype/Google+ Hangout studios available for media interviews.
