Newswise — (Glen Burnie, MD) – As part of Mercy Medical Center’s ongoing efforts to bring the 142-year Sisters of Mercy tradition of quality health care to increasing numbers throughout the region, Mercy officially opens Mercy Personal Physicians at Glen Burnie, 7927 Ritchie Highway, on Monday, June 6th, 2016. Located in the Southdale Shopping Center at the intersection of Mountain Road and Ritchie Highway, Mercy Personal Physicians at Glen Burnie is a comprehensive, one-stop, medical facility featuring primary care, specialized physician care, and a variety of diagnostic and laboratory services. According to Dr. George Lowe, Medical Director for Maryland Family Care, the new 26,800 square foot health care site will serve the Pasadena, Glen Burnie, Millersville, Severn, Gibson Island and Severna Park communities, and more than 26,000 primary care patients visits are expected per year.
The $8.5 million Glen Burnie project will be completed in two phases; the first, covering approximately 20,000 square feet, will feature 11 physician pods, 25 exam rooms, and ancillary services including a blood draw laboratory, X-ray, ultrasound, bone density (DEXA) scan, stress testing, a vascular laboratory and echocardiography. The second phase will include the remaining 6,800 square feet and include five more pods and the capacity to accommodate additional diagnostic services.
Primary care physician Dr. Chackumkal Cyriac will serve as the Glen Burnie site’s medical director. In addition to a team of primary care providers, Mercy specialty physicians in such disciplines as cardiology, cosmetic medicine and surgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology, gynecology, medical oncology and hematology, minimally invasive surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, shoulder/elbow/wrist/hand, surgical oncology, urology and vascular surgery will see patients at the new site. Mercy Personal Physicians at Glen Burnie replaces Glen Burnie Personal Physicians locations at 1600 Crain Highway in Crain Towers and 1412 Crain Highway North.
