Newswise — Dr. Richard Middleton is a research scientist in the Earth and Atmospheric Sciences division at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

His research has centered on a range of energy and climate applications, focusing on three major themes: (1) climate impacts, climate-driven disturbances (including vegetation stress/mortality, wildfire, and infestation), and the impacts on hydrology; (2) the energy-water nexus; and (3) energy technology, optimization, and policy.

Dr. Middleton has published in a range of energy applications including CO2 capture and storage (CCS) or carbon sequestration, shale gas and hydraulic fracturing, geothermal modeling and exploration, wind energy optimization, biofuels, and enhanced oil recovery.
