Newswise — Jacqueline “Jacky” Schultz, has been appointed president of Suburban Hospital, effective August 15, 2016. After completing an extensive national search, the hospital’s board of trustees voted to name Schultz president. Schultz has served as interim president of Suburban Hospital since October 2015.

“During the past nine months, Jacky proved to be a superb interim president,” says Howard Gleckman, chairman of Suburban Hospital’s board of trustees. “The board and search committee recognized that during her short tenure in that role, she and her able team achieved significant improvements in employee and physician engagement, patient satisfaction and financial performance of the institution.”

With more than 30 years in the health care industry, including 11 years at Suburban Hospital, Schultz brings a broad range of clinical and administrative expertise to her new role. Her talent for building coalitions, leading in complex environments and leveraging her extensive institutional and clinical knowledge have immensely benefited patients, the hospital and the Johns Hopkins Medicine family.

“Since assuming the role as interim president last October, Jacky has shown visionary leadership and operational direction that ensured the hospital continued to provide the highest quality patient- and family-centered care,” says Ronald R. Peterson, president of the Johns Hopkins Health System and executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine. “Her collaborative style and exceptional interpersonal and analytical skills will continue to help us enhance employee and physician engagement and patient outcomes.”

“I am thrilled and grateful to be given the honor of being asked to lead this great hospital,” says Schultz. “It is a sacred trust to me—not just for our hospital, but for our patients and the community that Suburban Hospital has served for almost 75 years. I look forward to an exciting future for Suburban Hospital as we continue our massive campus-enhancement program to further strengthen our commitment to our community.”

At Suburban, Jacky has served as the chief nursing officer, senior vice president for patient care, senior vice president for clinical operations, executive vice president and chief operating officer.
