Newswise — Boston, Mass. — Massachusetts Eye and Ear has been recognized as the no. 1 hospital in the nation for otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat care) for the second consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report in the 2016-2017 “Best Hospitals” issue.
An independent news organization, U.S. News & World Report ranked the Mass. Eye and Ear/Mass General Department of Otolaryngology first in the nation based on many factors, including quality of care, patient safety and national reputation among board-certified otolaryngologists. This is the second year in a row that Mass. Eye and Ear has held the #1 ranking for ear, nose and throat care.

The Mass. Eye and Ear/Mass General Department of Ophthalmology is also ranked among the best in the nation, earning the no. 4 national ranking (no. 1 in New England) it has held for the past 17 years. The ophthalmology ranking is based solely on a reputational survey of board-certified ophthalmologists around the country.

In 2009, Mass. Eye and Ear and Mass General announced that Mass. Eye and Ear physicians would lead and staff the Departments of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology at Mass General, which is why both hospitals are named in the ranking.
