Newswise — Pediatric otolaryngologist George Harris, MD, FACS, FAAP, who specializes in aerodigestive track disorders, has joined Loyola Medicine. Dr. Harris sees patients at the Loyola Outpatient Center on Loyola’s main campus in Maywood and at the Loyola Center for Health at Burr Ridge and the Loyola Center for Health at Oakbrook Terrace. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology of Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. Dr. Harris treats all general ear, nose and throat conditions in children, including sleep disorders, allergies, adenoid and tonsil disease, airway problems and swallowing challenges.

"I believe that children want to heal and do not want to be identified by their health issues," Dr. Harris said. "I am inspired by their will to heal and I push just as hard or harder to find solutions to make them feel normal. I treat every child, regardless of severity of condition, with the firm belief that, together, we will partner to make them well."

Ear, nose and throat disorders in children can range from routine tonsillectomies and ear tube placements to surgeries to correct congenital conditions such as airway malformations and pediatric tracheostomy. "My goal in the treatment of all of my patients is a simple one. Get the child back to that wondrous time that is childhood," said the Hinsdale father of seven children ranging from 2 months to fourteen years old. After earning his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, Dr. Harris completed a surgical internship and residency in otolaryngology at University of Iowa and a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Harris is board certified in otolaryngology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Pediatricians.
