Newswise — Exton, PA – September 22, 2016 - Education Management Solutions, LLC (EMS), a provider of integrated audio-video and simulation management technologies, congratulates the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Simulation Learning Education and Research Network (SimLEARN) Program on the opening of the new National Simulation Center at Lake Nona, Florida.

The 51,000-square-foot SimLEARN facility provides an immersive training environment that replicates actual patient treatment areas, allowing clinicians to safely hone their care delivery skills. EMS' SIMULATIONiQ Enterprise simulation management technology will serve as an operational backbone for the center, allowing administrators to seamlessly manage every aspect of the training process, including scheduling, paging, audio-video recording, and assessment.

"SimLEARN and the VHA National Simulation Center apply simulation-based training and technology to advance the skills of our clinical workforce, maximize teamwork and communication skills, increase access to care and, most importantly, improve Veteran health care outcomes and quality of care," said Dr. Haru Okuda, SimLEARN national medical director. "The SimLEARN program is different than most simulation centers associated with academic medical centers throughout the country in that it provides interprofessional training, which includes doctors, nurses and associated health staff. And, the focus is on training our workforce, and not specifically nursing and medical students or residents."

Simulation training allows clinicians to improve or acquire new skills in a safe environment without adversely impacting patient outcomes. As many as 2,500 VA healthcare providers from approximately 1,600 sites of care, including 168 VA medical centers nationwide will train at the SimLEARN National Simulation Center each year."EMS is excited to partner with SimLEARN in their essential function of improving veteran healthcare quality," said Anurag Singh, EMS President and CEO. "With the opening of their National Simulation Center, they firmly cement VHA as a global leader in healthcare simulation-based training and research."A ribbon cutting ceremony for the center, which includes an outpatient clinic setting, an inpatient/hospital setting with intensive care units, and operating rooms, took place on September 16, 2016.About Education Management Solutions EMS is an industry pioneer in simulation-based solutions for healthcare training environments ranging from clinical simulation management software and hardware, to counselor education, case authoring and virtual patient training.
