Newswise — CHICAGO & SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA – The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and ePreop, Inc. today announced a collaborative agreement to provide a quality capture solution to Anesthesia Quality Institute (AQI) participating practices that simplifies as well as enriches the data capture and submission process to the National Anesthesia Clinical Outcomes Registry (NACOR) for quality reporting to CMS and local quality improvement initiatives.

The software product will help ensure that anesthesia practices avoid CMS penalties by providing seamless AQI QCDR reporting in an increasingly competitive health care marketplace. The reporting platform integrates with most major anesthesia billing services and Electric Health Records, and it can be used in non-integrated environments. Additionally, the platform will facilitate HIPAA-compliant communication between colleagues and with billing companies from various devices; tablets, smart phones, computers, so critical correspondence is secure and centralized, and information is not fragmented across multiple emails and technologies.

“This new quality reporting platform is a huge advance for ASA members and their practices allowing them to easily capture data from multiple sources, accurately match the files and format them to meet Anesthesia Quality Institute’s submission requirements,” said Roger Moore, M.D., chair, AQI board of directors. “For AQI, this platform will increase the amount and quality of data that flows to NACOR so that benchmarks produced from the registry are assured to be accurate, reliable and robust.”

“As a physician, I started ePreop with two basic goals: improving care for patients and making life easier for anesthesia providers,” said David Bergman, D.O., CEO, ePreop, Inc. “We are excited to standardize the collection of quality outcome data, while additionally supporting practices that want to advance to a full Perioperative Surgical Home model of care. Together with ASA, we will lead providers down a path to simplify the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) and the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS).”

The quality capture solution will be available for advance purchase through ASA at the Anesthesiology 2016® annual meeting in Chicago, October 22-26, 2016.
