FSU NURSING PROFESSOR AVAILABLE TO SPEAK ON IMPORTANCE OF FLU SHOT
The flu season typically occurs between October and May, with flu activity peaking between December and February.
Health practitioners encourage everyone over the age of 6 months to get a flu shot.
Cindy Studenic-Lewis, assistant dean of the College of Nursing, is available to discuss the importance and role of the flu vaccine in public health.
Cindy Studenic- Lewis, assistant dean, College of Nursing: (850) 645-4905; [email protected] is the assistant dean of the undergraduate nursing program in the College of Nursing. She holds a doctor of nursing practice from Samford University and a master’s of public health from University of South Florida. She worked for the Florida Department of Health in policy and program development prior to joining the College or Nursing in 2002.
“Flu should be taken very seriously by the general public as it can sometimes lead to serious negative health consequences,” Lewis said. “Everyone over the age of 6 months should be vaccinated to protect from the flu virus.”###
