The ISPOR Awards Program is designed to foster and recognize excellence and outstanding technical achievement in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR). The 2016 ISPOR Awards Program recipients honored at the European Congress include:

ISPOR Marilyn Dix Smith Leadership AwardFor his trailblazing experience and his years of leadership and service to the Society, J. Jaimie Caro, MDMCM, FRCP, has been selected to receive ISPOR’s 2016 Marilyn Dix Smith Leadership Award. Dr. Caro has long been recognized as a pioneer in developing novel techniques and methodologies that advance the science of health economics and outcomes research. Together, Dr. Caro’s body of work in the field and his service to ISPOR epitomize the Society’s mission to promote health economics and outcomes research excellence to improve decision making for health globally.

The ISPOR Marilyn Dix Smith Leadership Award is international in scope and stature and recognizes one individual each year that has provided extraordinary leadership to the Society. The 2016 Marilyn Dix Smith Leadership Award was presented to Dr. Caro by Scott D. Ramsey, MD, PhD, Chair, ISPOR Marilyn Dix Smith Leadership Award Committee and Co-Director, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, WA, USA.

1 November 2016- Hans-Georg Eichler, MD, MScSenior Medical Officer, European Medicines Agency (EMA), London, United Kingdom- Tomasz Hermanowski, PhDInterQuality Project Leader and Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacoeconomics, Medical University of Warsaw, Warsaw, PolandFor their dedicated service as Co-Chairs of ISPOR’s 19th Annual European Congress, Drs. Eichler and Hermanowski were recognized for their efforts in developing the scientific program for the 2016 meeting and for their continued service to ISPOR over the course of the years.

Huić and Rüther were recognized for their efforts and for their continued service to ISPOR. The ISPOR Distinguished Service Awards for the 19th Annual European Congress were presented by Lou Garrison, PhD, ISPOR 2016-2017 President and Professor, Pharmaceutical Outcomes Research and Policy Program, School of Pharmacy, University of Washington, Seattle, WA, USA.
