WASHINGTON, D.C., November 4, 2016 – The sounds of science will provide attendees of this year’s joint Acoustical Society of America and Acoustical Society of Japan meeting with insight into better ways of listening to marine mammals, the habits of destructive insects, better ways to treat kidney stones and much more.

The 172nd Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) will be held November 28- December 2, 2016, at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort. The location was picked with all travelers in mind, as it is also the 5th Joint Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America and Acoustical Society of Japan. Over 2,050 abstracts were submitted for the meeting on sound and its applications in physics, engineering, medicine, linguistics and more. Reporters are invited to attend in person for free (see details below).

Journalists may also remotely access meeting information with ASA’s World Wide Press Room, which will go live in time for the conference. A live media webcast featuring a selection of newsworthy research will take place Wednesday, November 30. Time and topics to be announced.
