Newswise — Fight Colorectal Cancer (Fight CRC) has once again been selected by No-Shave November as one of the three recipients for all funds raised during the 2018 campaign.

No-Shave November is a nonprofit organization encouraging men and women to “let it grow” during the month of November and using the awareness surrounding hair growth to raise money for cancer. No-Shave November will split this year’s proceeds between Fight CRC, Prevent Cancer Foundation, and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

“Fight CRC is grateful to No-Shave November for the awareness and funds raised during November each year. Their support has been instrumental in our research and advocacy efforts,” said Anjee Davis, president of Fight CRC. “We are honored to be a long-standing partner with the Hill family. Their determination to impact the fight against cancer has helped thousands of families.”

No-Shave began donating to Fight CRC in 2015 in memory of Matthew Hill, father to the founders who established the nonprofit in his honor. Hill was diagnosed with colorectal cancer and passed away in 2007. To-date, No-Shave November has donated $1,368,627 to Fight CRC. Fight CRC has used No-Shave dollars to directly support research, patient resources, and year-round advocacy efforts.

About No-Shave November
No-Shave November has been a tradition for many years, but it wasn’t until the fall of 2009 that members of the Chicagoland Hill family decided to use it as a means to raise money for charity. It was a project that held special meaning to the eight Hill children after their father, Matthew Hill, passed away from colon cancer in November 2007.

Participants in No-Shave November have always been willing to ditch their razors and, more recently, donate to cancer-fighting foundations. But what started as an easy way for a few followers on Facebook to donate their hard-earned money has turned into a nationwide celebration. Every November for the past six years, these No-Shavers have donated the cost of grooming (from a few dollars on razors to $100 on a salon visit) and helped our organization raise over 2 million dollars to date. As a family run, web-based organization, No-Shave November has grown exponentially since 2009. Our goal is to keep raising money for cancer prevention, education, and research and to let that hair grow in the process. We want every participant to embrace their hair for the many cancer patients that lose theirs due to vigorous treatments. We believe that together, anything is possible, and we’ll get closer to eradicating cancer one whisker at a time.
