Newswise — New York University will host “Anti-Semitism and Hate in America: A Teach-In with NYU Faculty,” on Wed., Nov. 14, 3-4:30 p.m. at the King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center, screening room (53 Washington Sq. South [betw. Sullivan and Thompson Sts.]). 

The attack on the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh – the largest incident of violence against Jews in American history – comes at a time of increased hate-based rhetoric and violence in the United States.

The teach-in will feature NYU faculty whose scholarship focuses on anti-Semitism and other forms of discrimination. It will be devoted to analyzing the attack on the synagogue and other instances of anti-Jewish violence both in its relation to the long history of anti-Judaism and anti-Semitism and in relation to the recent rise of racism, xenophobia, and hate-based violence in the United States.
