Newswise — NeuroPoint Alliance welcomes Martin Health System of Stuart, Fla., UC Health Yampa Valley Medical Center of Steamboat Springs, Colo., and Stormont Vail Medical Center of Topeka, Kan., to the Quality Outcomes Database (QOD) Spine and Neurovascular programs. The centers join over 100 existing QOD participating centers, several of which have been submitting data since 2012. As of November 2018, there are over 100,000 patients enrolled in the QOD Spine registry and over 5,000 patients enrolled in the QOD Neurovascular registry.
The QOD serves as the nationwide prospective clinical registry for neurosurgical procedures and practice patterns. Its primary purpose is to track the quality of surgical care for the most common neurosurgical and spine procedures, as well as provide individual surgeons, practice groups, hospitals and health systems with an immediate infrastructure for analyzing and reporting the quality of their neurosurgical care.
Martin Health System’s neurosurgeons are excited about the opportunity to participate in such an important quality initiative. “We are fortunate to have four neurosurgeons who are focused not only in providing exceptional care today, but also in driving initiatives that will enhance the quality of care for years to come,” said Fernando Petry, DO, Martin Health Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer. “Participating in this national initiative will be good for patients, for our community and for our organization as we seek to continuously improve the quality of care we provide.” Martin Health staff John Afshar, MD; John Robinson, MD, FAANS; Oszkar Szentirmai, MD, FAANS; and John Viola, MD, FAANS, are board-certified in neurological surgery and have years of experience treating complex and routine brain and spinal disorders.
