Newswise — Cal State Channel Islands Professor of Environmental Science Sean Anderson, PhD, has studied ocean hazards around the world. He was there for the Deepwater Horizon BP Oil spill, the Refugio Spill, and many others. He continues a decade-long study of California sandy beaches.

As much press as Rio's dirty water has received, Anderson believes we have just skimmed the surface. Rio couldn't live up to its promise to clean the waters and the Olympic Committee should have taken heed. The athletes don't seem to care, either, about this extreme public health risk.

There are human and animal bodies, feces, viruses, bacteria and detritus from oil spills.—We have a broadcast studio.
