Newswise — Metro is beginning its SafeTrack maintenance program this month. GW experts are available to discuss the science of arcing insulators and the effects of SafeTrack on mobility, neighborhoods and the metropolitan area’s economy and population.

Leah Brooks, assistant professor of public policy and public administration, is an urban economist who has studied the Los Angeles streetcar system and how mass transit affects cities and neighborhoods. She can speak about issues of access to transit and the impacts when it's limited.

Christopher Leinberger, the Charles Bendit Distinguished Scholar and Research Professor, is an expert in metropolitan land use and studies urban mobility and walkability. He can discuss the effects of Metro on the Washington region, including mobility, development and real estate, planning and neighborhood, downtown and suburban development.

David Brunori, research professor of public policy and public administration, is an expert in state and local tax and government issues. He can comment on state and local tax and budget politics, funding streams and jurisdictional issues related to WMATA.
