Chenyang Lu, PhD, professor of computer science and engineering at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Engineering is an expert in designing wireless monitoring and control systems for structures. He can comment on the recent bridge collapse in Washington.

He is working on promising technology to control structures based on real-time measurements from wireless sensors attached to the structures so they withstand natural and man-made disasters.
