Graphic Designer, Marketing Communications


Responsibilities
Reporting to the Art Director of Marketing Communications, the Designer is responsible to assist in the graphic design of college publications, playing a key role in image development, brand management, and integrated marketing communications efforts.

Duties

  1. Work with the Art Director of Marketing Communications to produce college print publications:
    1. Meet with clients to determine design needs.
    2. Design publications and prepare camera-ready art or electronic files.
    3. Determine paper, type, and ink specifications.
    4. Work with vendors to coordinate bidding process, production, and delivery.
    5. Work with the purchasing department to arrange for vendor payment.
    6. Track and coordinate production.
    7. Determine and obtain necessary supplies.
    8. Perform tasks that require stamina and mobility, such as lifting and carrying boxes of periodicals.
  2. Advise and train employees in other departments who are developing print publications as to overall strategy, design, feasibility, and production.
  3. Conceive of and design major marketing communications pieces.
  4. Help set publications standards campuswide by monitoring overall graphic designs of projects, occasionally interacting and working with outside vendors as required.
  5. Serve as an illustrator when required.
  6. Serve as a photographer when required.
  7. Maintain a working knowledge of the Macintosh computer, scanners, printers, other peripheral hardware; and its software (Microsoft Word, InDesign, Quark Xpress, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop).
  8. Maintain expertise in skills and knowledge of the latest print and graphics technologies, and evaluate tools for implementation of such methods.
  9. Maintain expertise in troubleshooting Macintosh computers and peripherals.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in art or graphic design, with minimum of 3 years of experience in print design.
  2. Proven excellence and creativity in the use of print graphics software.
  3. A team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to manage multifaceted projects, meeting deadlines with good planning and efficiency.
