Multimedia Services Coordinator - WSU News Service
Position Overview: The Washington State University News Service in Pullman seeks a skilled professional to fill the position of Audio/Video Journalist (official title: Multimedia Services Coordinator). This position is responsible for finding, reporting, shooting and assembling video and audio news stories. Stories will feature significant scientific research, campus events, interviews with visiting speakers and WSU faculty members, and other topics. Stories will be posted on WSU websites as podcasts, downloadable clips, and other formats including being made available for use by outside TV news stations. The position may also engage in other multimedia functions including website maintenance, graphic and presentation design, and content production.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, computer science, management information systems or other relevant field and four (4) years of relevant related professional experience including experience with complex telecommunication systems or multimedia systems. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- A background in the news media or a related field.
- Extensive video knowledge including production, lighting, shooting, and digital editing.
- Technical knowledge of web and video software such as Final Cut Pro.
- Experience shooting digital video.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional proficiency with HTML-Flash/Video technology and/or other web applications.
- Experience producing content for broadcast.
- Demonstrated knowledge of branding and marketing principles.
- Experience in higher education, a government agency, or corporate environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrable organizational skills.
- Experience dealing with high-profile individuals in various circumstances.
Salary: $40,000+, depending on experience and qualifications.
