Dick Jones is the principal of Dick Jones Communications in State College, PA, a national news media relations and program counseling firm that, since 1987, has served colleges and universities around the United States.

Before founding Dick Jones Communications, Jones was public relations director for four years at the University of Scranton, where he also taught classes in journalism and public relations. Previously he worked in the news bureau of Penn State's Department of Public Information for five years.

In the mid-1970s, he was co-founder, publisher, and editor of The Observer, a successful weekly newspaper in Mifflin County, PA, which continues to publish. Jones has also worked as a reporter and editor for daily newspapers and radio stations. He is the author of numerous freelance articles and articles in professional periodicals.

He is co-author, with Jeff Lewis, of How To Get Noticed by the National Media: Your Complete Guide to High-Impact Publicity. (Trellis Publishing, 2001). A native of Natrona Heights, PA, near Pittsburgh, he has a bachelor of arts degree in journalism.
