HealthScout.com is a highly visited and respected consumer health site. Newswise has 8 subscribing staff members and 8 subscribing freelancers at Healthscout.com. In the month of March, 6 of those journalists used Newswise stories on the Healthscout site. The table below shows those stories. In March, Healthscout used 11 Newswise stories.
As you may have noticed above, often more than one Newswise participating institution is mentioned in stories posted to Healthscout.com. This is a secondary benefit of posting news to Newswise -- getting your experts' names out to journalist so that they are used as sources and commentaries in articles.
Of the Healthscout journalists who use Newswise, we found two in particular who used it regularly. From February to April, one of them used Newswise 11 times and the second used it 7. A list of the stories from February and April are below (March stories are included the table above).
When the Newswise News Service begins, we expect to be able to bring you more information about where your news releases are being used online. We believe that many consumer information sites will use your news on their sites, and we are currently investigating ways to track this use and report to you.

This is the fourth edition of a new monthly report format in which you'll find:
Earlier results
A preliminary report on access counts is now provided for files you've contributed during the most recent month, in addition to a final report on your prior month's activity. This allows you to track both preliminary and longer-range access counts for your stories.
Enhanced context
Your reports are now provided within the greater context of this monthly Newswise report, which offers perspectives on your data not previously available, such as studies of how the media access and use Newswise and your stories. We also hope to use this "interactive" newsletter as a way of eliciting your suggestions and to acknowledge those who have contributed suggestions.

"I like the daily service. Keep it up. On average we probably use two stories per day in our newscasts from the material you send. What's interesting is that the same stories don't show up for as much as a week on AP or in the newspapers."
--Roger Downey,
KPHO-TV (CBS Phoenix)
|
"I use it daily and take about 2 stories a week off the service."
--Maggie Fox,
Reuters
|
"To put it simply, Newswise is one of the best services I have found, and I use information from it constantly. In fact, the lead story on next Monday's Science page was an item I found on Newswise and fleshed out with interviews and art. Keep it coming. It's a terrific service. An important aspect, of course, are visuals, which I think are critical in explaining science."
--Kurt Loft,
Tampa Tribune
|
"The DailyWire helps me stay on top of important health studies. I probably use it every single time I write for Runner's World (4 issues this year), citing multiple studies. I've also searched it when assigned stories to see what's been done on particular topics."
--Alisa Bauman,
Runner's World
