Newswise Sponsored Listserves Con't.

Newswise Community

For ten years Newswise has sponsored the PIOnet listserve, a valuable community building tool serving more than 400 members from across the globe.

We've recently reinvigorated PIOnet and Newswise's commitment to the community of PIOs by adding a PIOnet website. We are trying to use a variety of Internet tools to enrich the community, or as a colleague said, "increase the touch points" to improve the relationship, interactivity and services.

For example, we have a jobs list, a membership directory and an archive.

Please invite your colleagues and friends (from your institution and others) from higher ed media relations to join us.

StratCommNet

Similarly, Newswise and Simpson Communications have launched a new listserve, newsletter and website this month: StratCommNet.

StratCommNet will feature timely information and discussion on crisis communications and marketing in higher education. Both the listserve and website will be updated bi-weekly with links to "current crises" and marketing best practices via the StratCommNet Newsletter (see the archive). Our goal is to provide timely information and provoke discussions on current crises/marketing issues and how best to handle these.

The website will archive much of this information to make it the "go-to site" on the Web for "how to" handle a crisis or enhance your marketing capabilities.

The website also contains a membership directory, an archive of all newsletters, and a form for subscribing.

StratCommNet is designed for higher educational professionals who establish strategy in communications. Please invite your colleagues and friends (from your institution and others) from higher ed strategic public affairs who deal with crises communications and marketing to join us.

You can read more about this new service, as well as sign up for the listserve and newsletter, on the StratCommNet website.

We hope that this community will provide a network of experts and correspondents to monitor crises and marketing concepts across higher education. The success depends on participation. In a time when we are all overwhelmed with email, the group will maintain a focused and professional atmosphere.

Your Individual Report

This is the twentieth edition of the monthly report in which you'll find:
  • Earlier results
A preliminary report on access counts is now provided for files you've contributed during the most recent month, in addition to a final report on your prior month's activity. This allows you to track both preliminary and longer-range access counts for your stories.
  • Enhanced context
Your reports are now provided within the greater context of this monthly Newswise report, which offers perspectives on your data not previously available, such as studies of how the media access and use Newswise and your stories. We also hope to utilize this "interactive" newsletter as a way of eliciting your suggestions and to acknowledge those who have contributed suggestions.

  • August 2003 Newswise Report (preliminary)

"I've already written at least one article prompted by a Newswise item. I learned about Ellen Kossek's research through Newswise. And in general, the wire is very good at stimulating me to think about new story ideas and possible new sources. Keep up the good work!"
--Katherine Reynolds Lewis, Newhouse News Service
"I find the service useful and have recommended it to a number of people who are in my field. Keep up the good work."
