Newswise Meetings Calendars
This month we discuss the Newswise Medical and Scientific Meetings Calendars. Read below for more details.

About this Report
In this report, we've included information on the Newswise calendars of medical and scientific meetings, feedback from journalists, and success stories from participating institutions. We encourage your feedback (see suggestion box). It helps us to evaluate Newswise and make changes to better suit your needs. We look forward to hearing from you.

Suggestion from a Journalist
"It would be VERY VERY good if Newswise had more pics to go with the releases. A release with relevant pics makes the story a lot more interesting for an editor (and thus for a freelancer as myself, when I try to sell a story to an editor)."
—Birgitte Svennevig, freelance
Newswise note: if a story you intend to contribute contains references to the availability of a photo or other graphic material, please include the URL(s) to the online graphics, or a phone number and email address for accessing a photograph or video, in the full text of your story.

Newswise Medical and Scientific Calendars

We invite all Newswise participants (as well as non-participating institutions), to raise awareness of your upcoming medical and scientific meetings by contributing your listings to the Newswise Calendar of Medical Meetings or to the Newswise Calendar of Scientific Meetings. Both calendars are updated monthly, and constitute an extremely popular resource for both journalists and the general scientific community.

In this report we take a look at the traffic these calendars have generated over the past six months, and explore the high-profile that these calendars have achieved in the listings of three major internet search engines: Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft.

Also worth noting is the high percentage of hits on the Newswise calendars that are being refered by the major internet search engines when a user searches for "medical meetings calendar", "scientific meetings calendar", "medical meetings" or "scientific meetings". Over 24% of all calendar hits came from one of these three major search engines: Google, Yahoo, or Microsoft:

Your Individual Report

This is the twenty-sixth edition of the monthly report in which you'll find:
  • Earlier results
A preliminary report on access counts is now provided for files you've contributed during the most recent month, in addition to a final report on your prior month's activity. This allows you to track both preliminary and longer-range access counts for your stories.
  • Enhanced context
Your reports are now provided within the greater context of this monthly Newswise report, which offers perspectives on your data not previously available, such as studies of how the media access and use Newswise and your stories. We also hope to utilize this "interactive" newsletter as a way of eliciting your suggestions and to acknowledge those who have contributed suggestions.
