In addition to distributing your daily news items in the Newswise wires and highlighting them online in the real-time browse menus, all news releases are posted to our archive and remain accessible indefinitely. Newswise currently maintains a database of more than 33,700 articles from 1997 to the present, which journalists often use as a valuable source for experts and background information. As opposed to a simple keyword search, the archive is full-text searchable -- each word in the full text of the release is indexed for searching. Further refinements can be made to a search by date, library and/or contributing institution, and results are returned by relevance. The Newswise archive extends the shelf life of your news release for years.
Success from the Newswise Archives:
"Just had a Newswise success. Researching a story on Bigfoot, I wanted to focus on credibility [of witnesses]. Searched your
archive for that, and found the perfect professor, from Purdue University, a 1997 release. Good interview. So thanks for the excellent archive!"
—David Tenenbaum, The Why Files

A preliminary report on access counts is now provided for files you've contributed during the most recent month, in addition to a final report on your prior month's activity. This allows you to track both preliminary and longer-range access counts for your stories.
Enhanced context Your reports are now provided within the greater context of this monthly Newswise report, which offers perspectives on your data not previously available, such as studies of how the media access and use Newswise and your stories.
