Gene that Helps Plants Take Iron from Soil Isolated
Dartmouth CollegeResearchers have isolated a gene that helps plants to move the iron in soil into their roots. The finding, reported in the Feb. 25 issue of Nature, could enable scientists to develop plants that are more efficient in extracting this essential element from poor soils and crops that are richer sources of dietary iron.
