Patients with heart infections face prolonged stroke risk, German doctors report
Atrium Health Wake Forest BaptistPatients suffering from bacterial endocarditis, a heart infection, remain at risk for stroke and other cerebral complications far longer than previously known, a German doctor reported. He said 80 percent of the patients he studied continued to have microembolisms in their brains up to four weeks after having been treated with antibiotics.
