Why: This pact reflects a growing global interest in biofuels. The Gibraltar-based Eco-Energy, Ltd., will fund UI research to develop oilseed varieties that can be used to produce biodiesel and other fuels. The varieties will be bred and tested for use in diverse environmental conditions worldwide with preliminary emphasis on Europe, South America and Asia.
