Newswise — CHICAGO – The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics will present its prestigious 2018 Medallion Awards to eight registered dietitian nutritionists in recognition of outstanding service and leadership in the Academy and the nutrition and dietetics profession.  

Medallion Awards have honored select Academy members each year since 1976. The winners will receive their awards on Sunday, October 21, during the Academy’s Food & Nutrition Conference & ExpoTM, in Washington, D.C. The 2018 Medallion Award recipients are: 

 

  • Wahida Karmally, DrPH, RDN, CDE, CLS, FNLA, New York City, N.Y.

For more than 30 years, Karmally was the director of nutrition at the Irving Institute for Clinical and Translational Research at Columbia University Medical Center. 

 

  • Paula Kellogg Leibovitz, MS, RDN, CDE, CDN, Southington, Conn.

Leibovitz is the technical assistant lead at the Stanford Diabetes and Chronic Disease Self-Management programs at the Connecticut Department of Public Health and Department of Social Services. 

 

  • Nancy M. Lewis, PhD, RDN, FADA, FAND, Stokesdale, N.C.

Lewis is professor emerita at the University of Nebraska’s College of Education and Human Sciences. 

 

  • Christine M. Palumbo, MBA, RDN, FAND, Naperville, Ill.

Palumbo is a widely published author, corporate and communications consultant and former adjunct faculty member at Benedictine University. 

 

  • Dee F. Pratt, RDN, LDN, Collierville, Tenn.

Pratt is the president, chief executive officer and co-owner of Dietitian Associates.

 

  • Susan R. Roberts, MS, RDN, LD, CNSC, FAND, Arlington, Texas

Roberts is area clinical director and the dietetic internship director at Baylor University Health Center.

 

  • Linda G. Snetselaar, PhD, RD, LD, FAND, Iowa City, Iowa

Snetselaar is the director of the department of epidemiology’s Nutrition Center at the University of Iowa College of Public Health and editor-in-chief of the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

  

  • Angela M. Tagtow, MS, RD, LD, Elkhart, Ind.

Tagtow is a nutrition consultant and formerly the executive director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion.
