CHICAGO – The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics will honor eight registered dietitian nutritionists with the Academy’s prestigious 2021 Medallion Awards, in recognition of outstanding service and leadership in the Academy and the nutrition and dietetics profession. Medallion Awards have honored Academy members each year since 1976. The 2021 Medallion Award recipients are:
- Leslie J. Bonci, MPH, RD, CSSD, RDN, Pittsburgh, Pa.
An Academy member since 1982, Bonci is the owner of Active Eating Advice by Leslie Bonci Inc., sports dietitian for the Kansas City Chiefs and an adjunct clinical instructor at the University of Pittsburgh.
- Catherine M. Champagne, PhD, RDN, LDN, FADA, FAND, FTOS, FAHA, Baton Rouge, La.
An Academy member since 1973, Champagne is a research professor and chief of nutritional epidemiology/dietary assessment and counseling at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center at Louisiana State University.
- Linda M. Gigliotti, MS, RDN, CDCES, CSOWM, FAND, Irvine, Calif.
An Academy member since 1976, Gigliotti is a health and well-being consultant for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange County.
- Mary B. Gregoire, PhD, RD, Naperville, Ill.
An Academy member since 1975, Gregoire is the former executive director of the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics and a professor emeritus and past chair of the department of clinical nutrition at Rush University.
- Susan McLaughlin, MOL, BS, RDN, CDCES, LMNT, Omaha, Neb.
An Academy member since 1979, McLaughlin is the owner of On-Site Health & Wellness LLC, a provider of medical nutrition therapy and diabetes self-management education and training services.
- Nancy Munoz, DCN, MHA, RDN, FAND, North Las Vegas, Nev.
An Academy member since 1988, Munoz is a supervisory dietitian and assistant chief for nutrition and foodservice at the Southern Nevada VA Healthcare System.
- Margaret M. Rowe, MS, RD, LDN, FADA, FAND, Hershey, Pa.
An Academy member since 1977, Rowe has worked as a nutrition consultant at the Milton Hershey School and University of Pennsylvania, and as a clinical dietitian and director of dietetics at hospitals and medical centers in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
- Terese M. Scollard, MBA, RDN, LD, FAND, Beaverton, Ore.
An Academy member since 1976, Scollard is a nutrition consultant, owner of MySurgeryPlate LLC and the former regional clinical nutrition manager at Providence Health and Services.
