Newswise — Ronald R. Loeppke, MD, MPH, FACOEM, was installed May 1 as President of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM), the nation’s largest association representing occupational and environmental physicians. Dr. Loeppke is among seven physicians who took office during ACOEM’s 98th annual meeting held in conjunction with the 2013 American Occupational Health Conference (AOHC) in Orlando, Fla.

An internationally recognized leader in the field of occupational and environmental (OEM) medicine, employee wellness, and health and productivity management, Dr. Loeppke is President and Vice Chairman of U.S. Preventive Medicine in Brentwood, Tenn. He received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, and completed his Preventive Medicine Residency, Occupational Medicine Fellowship training, and MPH at the University of Washington School of Public Health and Community Medicine in Seattle. He is certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in public health and general preventive medicine. Dr. Loeppke serves a one-year term (2013-14).

Other officers installed for one-year terms were President-Elect Kathryn L. Mueller, MD, MPH, FACOEM; Vice President Mark A. Roberts, MD, MPH, PhD, FACOEM; and Secretary-Treasurer James A. Tacci, MD, JD, MPH, FACOEM.

Dr. Mueller is Professor, School of Public Health and Department of Emergency Medicine, at the University of Colorado Anschutz Campus, Denver, Colo. She is also Medical Director for the Colorado Division of Workers’ Compensation in Denver. Dr. Mueller received her MD from the University of Nebraska in Omaha and her MPH from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

Dr. Roberts is Principal Scientist and Director at the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health at Exponent, Inc., in Chicago, Ill. He received his MD from Oklahoma University College of Medicine and his MPH and PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Oklahoma School of Public Health in Oklahoma City.

Dr. Tacci is Global Corporate Medical Director and Manager of Medical, Health and Wellness Services for Xerox Corporation. He is an Assistant Professor and Residency Program Director at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, N.Y. Dr. Tacci received his MD from the University of Rochester, his JD from Syracuse University, and an MPH from the University at Albany, State University of New York.

Installed as Directors for three-year terms (2013-2016) were Steven Pike, MD, JD, MBA, MS, FACOEM; James P. Seward MD, MPP, MMM, FACOEM; and Charles M. Yarborough III, MD, MPH, FACOEM.

Dr. Pike is Director and Partner at Emergency Medicine Associates and President of EnviroMD, Inc., both of Tucson, Ariz. He is also an Associate in the Center for Toxicology, University of Arizona Health Sciences Center in Tucson. Dr. Pike received his MD from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and his JD, MBA, and MS in toxicology from the University of Arizona.

Dr. Seward is Medical Director at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), and Clinical Professor of Public Health at the University of California Berkeley (UCB). He is Chair, UCSF Occupational Medicine Residency Advisory Committee, and Co-Director, UCSF-UCB Joint Residency in Preventive Medicine. Dr. Seward received his MD from UCSF, his MPP from UCB, and an MMM from Tulane University, New Orleans, La.

Dr. Yarborough is Director for Health and Wellness Medical Strategies at Lockheed Martin Corporation, Advisor for the Occupational and Environmental Medicine Residency Program at Johns Hopkins University, and Associate at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is also a medical staff member, Department of Medicine, at Johns Hopkins Medicine’s hospital in Bethesda, Md. Dr. Yarborough received his MD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and his MPH from the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Karl Auerbach, MD, MS, MBA, FACOEM, serves an additional year on the Board as Immediate Past President. Dr. Auerbach is Medical Director of Occupational Medicine at Pulse Occupational Medicine, Rochester, N.Y.

Also serving one-year terms on the Board are the Speaker and Speaker-elect of the ACOEM House of Delegates (HOD) – James W. Butler, MD, MPH, FACOEM, and Paul J. Papanek, MD, MPH, FACOEM, respectively. Dr. Butler, of Orthopaedic Associates, Inc., Evansville and Newburgh, Ind., and Dr. Papanek with the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health Medical Unit in Torrance, were installed as House officers on April 28 at the 94th Session of the House along with newly elected HOD Recorder Philip Adamo, MD, MPH, FACOEM, from the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
