American Society of Nephrology Announces New Journal: Kidney360
Newswise — Washington, DC (October 17, 2018)—To further its mission of facilitating timely and broad dissemination of kidney science, the American Society of Nephrology (ASN) today announced an addition to its journal portfolio, Kidney360. The journal will available online monthly beginning January 2020.
The general interest kidney journal, featuring content from all kidney science disciplines, will be a global, peer-reviewed, open access, online-only digital publication that shares with readers original investigations, meta-analyses, and reviews of basic, translational, clinical, epidemiologic, health policy, population science, and global health kidney research.
“Kidney360 will provide a platform to promote innovation, discovery, and outstanding nephrology research,” noted Ziyad Al-Aly, MD, FASN Publications Committee Chair.
“I am thrilled that a new ASN star is born,” he added. “This journal will further enhance the ASN’s leading position in the fight against kidney diseases and expand our ability to provide visibility and prominence to a wide spectrum of highly meritorious kidney research in the service of people with kidney diseases and all our stakeholders.”
Al-Aly said the journal will encourage authors to share data, detailed experimental protocols, and code and incorporate innovative publishing tools to maximize discourse on topics pertinent to the kidney science community.
Because Kidney360 recognizes that establishment of reproducibility across populations defined by different stages of disease or other characteristics, and presentation of robustly designed and adequately powered clinical trials with negative results can be important contributions, the journal will invite manuscript submissions that contribute to reproducibility, including those describing negative results.
“This is a historic moment for ASN and all those who care about expanding the scope and reach of kidney research to win the fight against kidney diseases,” Al-Aly noted. He said in December, ASN will launch a global search for an Editor-In-Chief for Kidney360.
“This birth of this new ASN star is the culmination of much work by many people, including the visionary leadership of Dr. Anupam Agarwal the committee liaison to the ASN Council, dedicated committee members, each of the ASN councilors, and the ASN staff who worked tirelessly get us to this point,” Al-Aly added.
Other Society publications include the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (JASN), the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (CJASN), and Kidney News, a nephrology news magazine.
