--Free Educational Event to Raise Awareness of Thyroid Disease and Disorders--

Sept. 19, 2012 – The American Thyroid Association (ATA) today announced that its Alliance for Patient Education will host a public health forum, “Thyroid Disease and You,” as part of the 82nd ATA Annual Meeting, in Québec City, Québec, Canada. This free event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at the Hilton Quebec and is open to the general public.

Physician experts will discuss a multitude of thyroid disorders and distribute free educational materials. Anyone who has had an overactive or underactive thyroid, thyroiditis, a thyroid nodule, thyroid cancer, or a family history of thyroid problems or related disorders, including rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile diabetes, pernicious anemia, or prematurely gray hair (starting before age 30) is encouraged to attend.
