AMGA Welcomes Two New Members to the Public Policy Department Newswise — The American Medical Group Association (AMGA) is pleased to announce the addition of two new Directors of Government Relations to the public policy team. As Directors of Government Relations, Grant Couch and Jamie Miller will represent medical group interests before Congress, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and other key federal agencies. “I am very pleased that Grant and Jamie have joined the AMGA team”, said Donald W. Fisher, Ph.D., President and CEO of AMGA. “I’m confident they will do an outstanding job of representing the interests of multi-specialty medical groups before Congress and the Federal government.” Grant Couch comes to AMGA from the American Society of Anesthesiologists where he worked in Federal Affairs, advocating the Society’s policy positions in front of both Congress and the Administration. Prior to that, Grant spent six years in the office of Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden (D-OR) where he worked on a variety of healthcare issues that came before the committee. Jamie Miller comes to AMGA from Premier, Inc., where he represented their 2,900 hospital members in front of key Congressional Committees as well as CMS. Prior to that, Jamie worked in Congressional Affairs for the American College of Emergency Physicians, and spent eight years in the office of Congressman Gresham Barrett (R-SC) where he oversaw activities on the House Budget and the House Energy and Commerce Committees on behalf of the Congressman. “Grant and Jamie bring close to 15 years of Congressional experience to AMGA’s public policy team, as well as significant association experience representing health systems and physicians,” commented Chet Speed, AMGA’s VP for Public Policy. “They will significantly increase our footprint on Capitol Hill and with the Department of Health and Human Services.” About American Medical Group AssociationThe American Medical Group Association (AMGA) represents medical groups and organized systems of care, including some of the nation's largest, most prestigious integrated health care delivery systems.
