Newswise — The Council on Undergraduate Research invites applications for its highest institutional honor, the CUR Campus-Wide Award for Undergraduate Research Accomplishments (AURA). This award recognizes higher education institutions that have successfully implemented some or all of CUR's Characteristics of Excellence in Undergraduate Research (COEUR), have devised exemplary programs to provide high-quality research experiences to undergraduates, and have assessed the success of these programs. The depth and breadth of the institutional commitment to undergraduate research as well as the innovative nature of a sustained, exemplary program are important criteria for award selection. Letters of intent from institutions are due by March 26, 2019.

Past recipients include Alleghany College (PA), Clemson University, The College of New Jersey, Denison University (OH), Florida Atlantic University, Furman University (SC), George Mason University, Hope College (MI), Union College (NY), University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Said CUR Executive Officer Elizabeth L. Ambos, “Since the inauguration of the AURA Award in 2015, CUR has seen tremendous growth in quality undergraduate research programs in all disciplines and at all types of higher education institutions across the nation and around the world. The AURA Award highlights that more and more institutions are meeting or exceeding CUR's COEUR best practices and that undergraduates are acquiring crucial research skills and experiences through these programs, as they prepare for graduate school or the workforce.”
