Newswise — Chicago (Sep. 25, 2018): The Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON) has awarded this year’s Dr. Patricia Greene Leadership Award to Kaye Schmidt, MA RN NEA-BC CPHON®. Schmidt was presented with this award at the 42nd Annual APHON Conference and Exhibit, held September 13-15, in Savannah, GA.

The Dr. Patricia Greene Leadership award is presented to an APHON member who has demonstrated excellence in service to and leadership of APHON in a given year. Schmidt has served at the committee member level as well as the leader of an APHON strategic committee. Schmidt recently completed her term as editor of APHON Counts after serving on the APHON Counts committee for a number of years as a column editor and then assistant editor. She was also a member of the steering council and has served as a contributing author to several of APHON’s resources. Additionally, Schmidt has presented at several APHON conferences and webinar sessions. She recently assumed the role of president of the Dallas Ft. Worth chapter of APHON and continues to serve at both the local and national level.
