His efforts have significantly influenced the current understanding of the biology of obesity, and he has been a leader in developing and executing landmark trials testing weight loss interventions and their impacts on health. (Bray will receive the USDA Agricultural Research Service’s O. Atwater Memorial Award. His lecture “Lessons in the Tradition of Atwater” will be delivered on Sunday, June 9 from 3–4 p.m.)
- Bo Lonnerdal, PhD is a Distinguished Professor of Nutrition and Internal Medicine at the University of California, Davis. He is an internationally recognized leader in basic and translational pediatric nutrition research whose work in the areas of human milk composition and nutrient requirements during the first year of life have had substantial implications for the healthy development of infants throughout the world. (Lonnderdal will receive the Robert Suskind and Leslie Lewinter-Suskind Pediatric Nutrition Lifetime Achievement Award. His lecture “Breast Milk – The Ultimate Functional Food” will be delivered on Monday, June 10 from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.)
