Newswise — DALLAS (November 16, 2015) – Baylor Scott & White Health has been ranked 10th healthiest employer in America by Healthiest Employer, LLC, based on its exceptional culture and employee wellness programs.

More than 5,000 employers nationwide applied for the 2015 Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America® award, which evaluates companies’ corporate vision, culture/engagement, learning, expertise, metrics and technology.

“We’re honored to be nationally recognized for our commitment to improving the health and wellness of our 34,000-plus employees,” said Becky Hall, vice president of wellness for Baylor Scott & White Health. “As a top provider of quality health care in Texas, it’s important that we support employees to practice what they preach to patients by offering them comprehensive tools to live well.”

Since its launch in September 2007, Baylor Scott & White Health’s employee wellness program has reduced the number of employees at high risk for health problems and helped employees collectively lose more than 18,000 pounds and exercise more than 83,000 hours. The program’s services include free access to interactive health websites, onsite health screenings and fitness competitions, and personal wellness coaching for those who qualify.

In 2012, the System removed sugary drinks and fatty food from cafeterias and vending machines and became the first large North Texas employer to implement a nicotine-free hiring policy.

“We strive to set the standard for health and wellness in the communities we serve,” Hall said.
