President Obama recently filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization that accuses China of providing $1 billion in illegal subsidies to auto and auto parts exporters. Zhiqun Zhu, a professor of political science and international relations at Bucknell University, is available to discuss the complaint, and the impact US/China relations could have on the presidential election.

Quotes:"This is a well calculated move by President Obama. He is focusing on key battleground states such as Ohio, where one out of eight jobs is tied to auto manufacturing, and I think it is fair to say the complaint he filed is much more about the November election than it is about China."

"America and China are joined at the hip. The two economies and societies are so interdependent now that they can withstand frictions in trade or human rights. This relationship is marked by cooperation and competition. It will remain strong despite many political, social and cultural differences between the two sides."
