Newswise — Richard V. Riggs, MD is Medical Director and Chairman of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

A physiatrist (specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation), Dr. Riggs has published and lectured on various disability topics, including brain injury, spinal cord injury and rehabilitation. He serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the Southern California Stroke Association, and has served as vice president of the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association (GLMA).

Dr. Riggs completed his medical education at the Medical College of Georgia, and he trained in Philadelphia in conjunction with the University of Pennsylvania.
