Newswise — Article title: T95 nucleophosmin phosphorylation as a novel mediator and marker of regulated cell death in acute kidney injury

Authors: Zhiyong Wang, Mostafa Belghasem, Erdjan Salih, Joel Henderson, Chinaemere Igwebuike, Andrea Havasi, Steven C. Borkan

From the authors: “In this study, we show for the first time that ischemic stress in vitro and in vivo cause [nucleophosmin threonine 95] to accumulate in murine and human cells using mass spectrometry (and phospho-specific immunodetection techniques revealed that T95 localizes to the cytosol cell fraction after physiologic stress in vitro and in vivo.”

This study is highlighted as one of September’s "best of the best" as part of the American Physiological Society's APSselect program.
