Newswise — Washington, D.C. – Today, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) announced that their first cybersecurity research and development (R&D) mobile security performer is now available to federal agencies through General Services Administration’s (GSA) IT Schedule 70.

As part of GSA’s Making it Easier initiative, the IT Schedule 70 FASt Lane team recently conducted a pilot program designed to help qualified IT suppliers submit an offer to be added to GSA’s IT Schedule 70 within a compressed timeframe of about a month. When fully launched and implemented, GSA’s FASt Lane will make it easier for innovative companies to do business with the government and put new technologies into the hands of federal agencies faster. With GSA’s FASt Lane, DHS S&T was able to help mobile security small business Kryptowire secure an IT Schedule 70 contract in 35 days.

“We are excited to have the first DHS S&T performer successfully go through GSA’s program and be awarded a Schedule contract” said DHS Under Secretary for Science and Technology Dr. Reginald Brothers. “This program will ensure the technologies we fund are accessible to our government partners.”

Kryptowire will provide mobile app vetting for Android and iOS mobile applications, as well as mobile app archiving across 10 product lines; allowing the government to analyze the security and privacy of their own and any third party apps used in the workplace.

“With over 90,000 mobile devices across the Department, we need to ensure mobile security is enabling our Federal mobile workforce,” said Cyber Security Division Mobile Device Security Program Manager Vincent Sritapan. “Kryptowire’s technology offerings on GSA’s IT Schedule 70 lets the federal government purchase mobile security tools and services that protect their enterprise and workforce. S&T’s priority is to help provide progressive tools, technologies and methods to help reduce vulnerabilities and malware in mobile devices and application, so this will help accelerate the adoption of secure mobile technologies in the future.”
