Under the Affordable Care Act, open enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace begins on October 1st.

Daniel Ehlke, PhD, MA, assistant professor of health policy and management in the School of Public Health at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, is available to discuss the rollout of open enrollment.

Aspects of the Affordable Care Act that Dr. Ehlke can address are:

--Differential effects due to state decisions on the Medicaid expansion component of the legislation

--Insurance exchanges--who is eligible to participate, why it's crucial the young and healthy sign up if the system is to work--and how the exchanges will work

--Current defunding threats

--What it would take for the Affordable Care Act to “succeed”-- or “fail”

--Political calculations of proponents and opponents

--Public opinion.

To speak with Dr. Ehlke, please contact him at 718-804-7828 or by email at [email protected].

Dr. Ehlke is co-author of "Health Politics and Policy" with James A. Morone.
