The DRG 25-OH Vitamin D (total) ELISA, an enzyme immunoassay for the measurement of total 25-OH Vitamin D (Vitamin D2 and Vitamin D3) in both serum and plasma, will be a highlight of the 2014 American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) Conference.

Vitamin D is involved in the intestinal absorption of calcium and the regulation of calcium homeostasis. Deficiency of Vitamin D can result in a wide-range of health issues in people of any age. Most commonly, a deficiency is related to issues in bone development but Vitamin D deficiency can also affect general health and cause many other problems including: types of cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and various autoimmune conditions.

“Vitamin D testing is an increasingly important spectrum in the diagnostic field,” said Dr. Cyril E. Geacintov, founder, president and CEO of DRG International. “With more and more implications for the effects of Vitamin D deficiency being investigated all the time, this testing kit is increasingly sought by the research community.”

Presently, this innovative technology is for research use only in the United States and is not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. However, it has received its CE Mark and is currently pending FDA approval. The DRG ELISA has also recently been awarded the Certificate of Proficiency by the Vitamin D External Quality Assessment (DEQUAS) Panel and meets the performance target set by DEQUAS for 25 hydroxyvitamin D.

DRG International will be showcasing at the AACC in Booth 2431. Press inquiries are welcome, for more information; please contact Evergreen Partners (press agent for DRG International) at (908) 322-1100.
