Newswise — California State University (CSU) Chancellor Timothy P. White has appointed Evelyn Nazario to serve as the university's vice chancellor for human resources. Nazario will assume the role as the university's chief human resources officer with the departure of Melissa Bard who will be leaving the university on October 1, 2018.
"Evelyn possesses a wealth of expertise and knowledge of both the CSU and higher education," said White. "Under her direction, the division of systemwide human resources will continue to develop the best practices that lead to recruiting and retaining the talented employees that are the foundation of the university."
"My thanks to Melissa Bard for the many successes that occurred under her leadership, and on behalf the university, we wish her the best in her future endeavors," added White.
In the role of vice chancellor for human resources, Nazario will serve as part of the chancellor's executive leadership team and oversee human resource management, labor and employee relations, statewide professional development, equal opportunity and whistleblower compliance, academic human resources and human resource policy development for the university.

Nazario joined the CSU in 2008 and currently serves as associate vice chancellor for human resources management. In that capacity she is responsible for the oversight of campus human resource officers and providing guidance in all HR related matters. Prior to joining the CSU, she served as director of compensation and HR operations for the University of California, Irvine. Nazario earned a bachelor's in psychology from Vanguard University and a master's in organizational leadership from Brandman University.
