According to a study published today in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, consuming red meat and white meat such as poultry, have equal effects on blood cholesterol levels.

University of Alabama at Birmingham nutrition and diet experts Beth Kitchin, Ph.D., and Drew Sayer, Ph.D. are available for comment.

Kitchin's research interests include patient education and health behavior.

Sayer has conducted randomized clinical trials to investigate the impact of red meat consumption on cardiometabolic health and weight loss in adults with obesity.
