Newswise — Hackensack Meridian Health K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center will host an event dedicated to pediatric cancer research and programs on Friday, September 28, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tackle Kids Cancer will take place at iPlay America at 110 Schanck Road in Freehold, NJ.

“The event is designed to provide a fun evening for children and their families who have had to deal with a cancer diagnosis, as well as help raise funds for this important health issue that affects the youngest members of our community,” says Kenneth N. Sable, M.D., MBA, FACEP, president of Jersey Shore University Medical Center and K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital. “It’s also an opportunity for local residents to learn about the highly specialized expertise and strong commitment to compassionate, personalized care that is at the core of our pediatric cancer care program.”

Current and former pediatric cancer patients will receive free ride passes for the event, and discounted ride passes will be available to the general public. Fifty percent of all ride passes purchased and 20 percent of all Game Time Bar & Grill purchases will be donated to Tackle Kids Cancer, a philanthropic initiative of the Children’s Cancer Institute at Hackensack Meridian Health dedicated to finding a cure for pediatric cancer while supporting cancer research.

Guests will have the opportunity to meet and take photos with former NY Giants wide receiver, Stephen Baker. Plus, register to win great prizes including a free iPlay birthday party and tickets to The Christmas Spectacular Show at Radio City Music Hall.

“The hematology and oncology experts at our hospital are committed to serving the pediatric patient population as they cope with a cancer diagnosis or manage a chronic blood disorder,” says Jessica Scerbo, M.D., section chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital. “We offer a state-of-the-art program and have a dedicated team that provides 24/7 close-to-home coverage for families in the Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex county region. We’re pleased to dedicate this evening to the amazing patients we are so privileged to care for.”
