Newswise — May 4, 2020 – Pittsburgh, PA (USA): The newly created TMS COVID-19 Materials Needs Exchange is an online directory  connecting organizations and programs on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic with materials scientists and engineers who can render materials or manufacturing assistance, resources, and/or expertise.

Organizations wishing to utilize these resources can directly contact the individuals and organization listed on the COVID-19 Materials Needs Exchange or can list their request for assistance. Organizations who can render some type of materials assistance are also encouraged to submit their information for potential inclusion on the directory. The TMS Materials Needs Exchange is an ongoing project and new postings are added frequently.

The Materials Needs Exchange is managed by The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS), a professional organization made up of materials scientists and engineers around the globe. “In this time of crisis, many of us are looking for ways we can help our communities, countries, and the world - or we need help ourselves. TMS members are no exception,” explains TMS President Tom Battle.  “We, and the companies we work for, constitute a unique resource in this time. The materials we produce, the technologies we use to produce them, and the broad expertise of our membership can be of great value in the world at this time. So TMS is proud to have created the Materials Needs Exchange to connect our wide-ranging capabilities to those in need of it.”
