A recent report issued by the United States Army documented 325 confirmed or potential suicides in 2012 among active and nonactive military personnel. These astonishing numbers exceed the total number of military deaths during the same time period in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Joseph Boscarino, Ph.D., MPH, a senior investigator with Geisinger Health System's Center for Health Research, actively researches the psychological health of former soldiers and has spent much of his career researching post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), including a current study underway that will delve further into veteran suicide.

If you are interested in speaking with Dr. Boscarino about these grim, new statistics as well as what the future of PTSD research holds for our nation, please contact Amanda O'Rourke at 570-214-9091 or [email protected].
